Such a showdown, however, does not intimidate Shavkat. The Kazakhstan fighter revealed his take on fighting Khamzat recently in an interview and said that Khamzat is not a threat to him.

"Chimaev is a strong opponent, but I don't think he is a threat to me. The fight will show who is strong and who is not. Now I don’t want to say big words about him, like I’ll destroy him, I’ll smear him. I don't want to say those words. I mean, time will tell. Since we are in the same division, sooner or later we will have to share the octagon, and then we will see,” he said (translation via Reddit User Tea_Master_666)

Shavkat recently secured a dominant first-round KO victory over Carlston Harris and is now 3-0 in the UFC. Khamzat, on the other hand, is 4-0 in the UFC and is expected to fight Gilbert Burns and has already drawn battle lines with Israel Adesanya.
