Indian MMA Fighter Roshan Mainam has secured another win in ONE Championship. Roshan went up against China’s Liu Peng Shuai at ONE: Reign of Dynasties today in Singapore and secured a second-round submission win.
The opening minutes of the first-round saw the fighters making cautious moves and threw a string of leg kicks at each other before Roshan managed to get a takedown. Although Liu was able to stand up, Roshan pushed the action and showcased some of his striking skills as well. Roshan landed two more takedowns before the round ended.
Roshan and Liu traded punches early in the second round before Roshan landed yet another takedown in the second minute. The takedown proved to be the winning move for Roshan who went on to submit with an RNC.
This was the second fight for Roshan at ONE Championship and with the win, his professional MMA record has now improved to 5-2. Training out of EVOLVE MMA, Roshan was confident ahead of the fight and had revealed in a pre-fight interview that he will be aiming for another finish at the event.
The Manipuri fighter made his ONE Championship debut back in November 2019 against Khon Sichan of Cambodia. The Indian MMA star had secured a dominant first-round submission win in the fight as well.
Liu Peng Shuai, meanwhile, came into this fight against Roshan on the back of a submission win against Elipitua Siregar at ONE Championship in December 2019. He will now be looking to bounce back in his next outing.
ONE: Reign of Dynasties was the first event back in Singapore for ONE Championship post the COVID-19 lockdown and was headlined by the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship title fight between Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and Josh Tonna.
