Stamp Fairtex has won the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix Champion with a win over Ritu Phogat at ONE: Winter Warriors in Singapore.
The ONE Atomweight Grand Prix final between Ritu Phogat and Stamp Fairtex happened at ONE: Winter Warriors on 3 December 2021 in Singapore. The fight started off with Ritu pushing for the takedown. Stamp, however, had a great game plan in place and fended off the attempts from the Indian. Ritu broke through the defense halfway through the first round only to see Stamp pounce back up to her feet. Ritu took proceedings to the ground early in the second round itself only to end up in a triangle from Stamp. The Indian failed to escape from the offense on the ground from Stamp and ended up tapping to an armbar that Stamp transitioned into.
The Former ONE Championship double champion, Stamp made her way into the finals of the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix with a win over Julie Mezabarba in the semi-finals and prior to this, Stamp had defeated Alyona Rassohyna in the quarter-finals as well.
Ritu, on the other hand, outclassed the experienced Meng Bo in the quarter-finals and got a win over Jenelyn Olsim in the semi-finals to book her place in the final.
Prior to this, Ritu had earned her spot in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix by defeating Lin Heqin of China in a dominant manner. The Indian was one of the eight original names in the Grand Prix but lost her place after a close decision loss to Bi Nguyen at ONE: Dangal. However, the win against Heqin helped Ritu get back into the Grand Prix which in turn saw her make it into the final.
The winner of the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix will be going up against Angela Lee for the ONE Atomweight Title next. What are your thoughts on the conclusion of the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix? Let us know in the comment section of the article below.
