Indian wrestling superstar Ritu Phogat is all set to make her ONE Championship debut at ONE: Age of Dragons. Ritu had joined EVOLVE MMA and inked a deal with ONE championship earlier this year.

The former Commonwealth Games medallist will be fighting Cindy Tong of Malaysia at the event which is scheduled to take place on November 16 in Beijing.

Earlier, she had expressed her desire to become the first Mixed Martial Arts Champion from India and her debut at ONE: Age of Dragons will be a huge milestone for her aspirations.

“I have a dream of becoming India’s first-ever World Champion in Mixed Martial Arts and can’t wait to represent India on the global stage and make my nation proud,” she told earlier this year.

For the uninitiated, Phogat is a champion wrestler and top women’s mixed martial arts prospect who comes from a family of martial artists. She began training in wrestling at the age of eight under the guidance of her father, Mahavir Singh Phogat. The 2016 blockbuster Indian sports film, Dangal, was loosely based on Phogat and her family.

Over the course of her wrestling career, Phogat has captured a Commonwealth Wrestling Championships gold medal, a World U23 Wrestling World Championships silver medal, an Asian Wrestling Championships bronze medal, and multiple Indian National Wrestling Championship titles.
