Phil Hawes secured yet another impressive win at UFC Austin. With the win, he improved his professional record to 12-3 and also improved his UFC record to 4-1. While his TKO win over Deron Winn was indeed impressive, what made headlines is his confrontation with former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier.
Hawes and Cormier had a heated exchange during the commercial at UFC Austin where Hawes was seen going at Cormier. You can see the video below.
Hawes later apologized to Cormier for the exchange and noted that it was a misunderstanding.
"It's just a misunderstanding on my behalf, you know, 'cause 'DC' is such a role model to me. You know what I mean? Two-weight world champion and just a freaking stellar dude. So there was a little miscommunication, wrong place, wrong time. I apologize, 'DC'. Don't beat me up,” he said.
