Huge announcement for Indian MMA as ONE Championship set to host ONE: Dangal
28 April 2021ONE Championship has made a huge announcement regarding Indian MMA as the promotion will be broadcasting ONE: Dangal on May 15, 2021, from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
The event will feature Indian MMA fighters across the card with Arjan Singh Bhullar taking on Brandon Vera for the ONE World Heavyweight title when Ritu Phogat will be returning to fight Bi Nguyen. Roshan Mainam will be going up against Gurdarshan Mangat at the event in a catchweight contest.
The fight between Arjan Singh Bhullar and Brandon Vera has been in the making for a long time now. It was postponed due to the pandemic multiple times. Vera had been training at Sanford MMA ahead of the fight and it would be interesting to see whether he can fend off the challenge posed by Arjan at the event. Arjan, who is 10-1 in his career, is coming off a win against Mauro Cerilli and will be looking to get the belt when he steps into the ONE Circle.
Roshan has been a force to reckon with in the ONE Championship having won all his fights in the promotion so far. His last win came against Aziz Calim back in March via a first-round submission and had defeated Liu Peng Shuai and Khon Sichan prior to this. Gurdarshan Mangat, on the other hand, is coming off a defeat against Reece McLaren. He is currently 2-1 in ONE Championship having won his first two fights.
Interestingly, Ritu is also set to fight in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix in which she will fight Meng Bo in the first-round. The fight is scheduled to happen at ONE: EMPOWER on 28 May 2021. Currently on a four-fight winning streak and undefeated in her professional MMA career, Ritu will be looking to continue the good run against Bi Nguyen before she enters into the Atomweight Tournament.
Nguyen, meanwhile, is coming off two losses with her last win coming against India’s Puja Tomar in a Muay-Thai bout.
