Twins share many experiences, but on Friday, 20 May, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the Ruotolo brothers will do something that not a lot of siblings get to do together – they will make their respective debuts in ONE Championship.
Kade and Tye Ruotolo are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenoms who will compete under submission grappling rules at ONE 157: Petchmorakot vs. Vienot. And at only 19 years old, the twins will be among the youngest competitors on the evening’s card.
Kade will take on former ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya Aoki. Aoki is a legend in The Home of Martial Arts and has wins over the likes of Eduard Folayang and Eddie Alvarez.
Tye will face Garry Tonon, one of the most famous American grapplers ever. Tonon has more than 20 gold medals in grappling to his name and has submitted elite athletes such as Gilbert Burns and Ralek Gracie.
Despite the caliber of their opponents, the brothers are confident in what they will be able to accomplish in their ONE debuts.

“I think it's going to be just an absolutely firing scramble festival – but not for the first few minutes. And I think, five minutes to six minutes in, there's going to be a big change in the match, and I'm going to start to dominate and then break him mentally, get him tired, and then submit him before the 10-minute mark,” Tye said of his fight with Tonon.
They may still be young, but the brothers have a wealth of experience on the mats. Both began their training when they were just three years old and now hold black belts in BJJ. The pair are also at the forefront of the growth of the sport in the United States.
“I'm so excited and thankful because I think it's going to bring so much opportunity to the sport. And jiu-jitsu has so much room to grow, so much room to grow,” Kade said of his ONE debut.
