Marine Pro Boxing Promotions made a triumphant return with Warrior Boxing Series (WBS) on 20 December 2020 in Mumbai. The event, which was sanctioned by PBC India, was held at the Marine Center and had a string of exciting fights on offer for the boxing fans.
The much-awaited debut of Nutlai Lalbiakkima
One of the biggest stories of the Warrior Boxing Series event was the professional debut of Mizoram boxing star Nutlai Lalbiakkima.
Nutlai, who made headlines back in 2018 in the amateur circuit by defeating Olympic Gold Medalist and World Number 1 Hasanboy Dusmatov, made his professional debut in style with a first-round finish. He got the better of Aman at the event and is on the track for bigger things in the year 2021. The professional boxing journey of Nutlai is expected to be a big boost for the Boxing circuit in Mizoram as well.
Vaibhav Singh Yadav and Shivani Dahiya secure wins
Vaibhav Singh Yadav was another name that produced a memorable performance at the event. Vaibhav, who won two titles in Thailand back in 2019, went home with a first-round stoppage victory against Shivam and improved his professional record to 8-1. Nicknamed ‘The Ahir Boxer’, Vaibhav has been an active name in the Indian boxing circuit and will be looking to continue his impressive run when he steps into the ring for the semi-finals of WBS.
Shivani Dahiya made her promotional debut at Warrior Boxing Series and secured a victory. One of the most experienced names in the Indian Professional circuit, Shivani defeated Neetu Pun in the lone female bout on the card and pushed her case further for being the top-ranked boxer in the division for India.
Home Grown Talent and Debutants Shine
Homegrown talent from Marine Pro Boxing Promotion such as Vimal Punera and Kamal Kant was also on the winning column at the event. Vimal Punera secured a first-round stoppage against Vimal Kumar when Kamal Kant edged out Pankaj via a unanimous decision.
Elsewhere, Sagar Salunke and Sagar Chaudhary also secured wins. Sagar Chaudhary stopped Vanlalmuana in the first-round when Sagar Salunke went the distance with Shashikant and found the judges’ decision in his favor.
Siddharth Varma, who has been a mainstay on the Marine Pro Boxing Promotion fight cards, went to a draw with Bhim Singh. Hyderabad’s Suresh Pasham made his promotional debut in style as well and stopped Paras Chauhan via a stoppage. Meanwhile, Hans Raj defeated Mohit to improve his resume.
A youngster to watch out for, Inderjeet Singh outclassed Sachin Mandhotra and marked the start of his journey in the Warrior Boxing Series.
The event which was supported by Four Points by Sheraton, The Butternut Co., Mighty Nutrition, and USI sports, was streamed on FITE.TV and the MMA India Show and reportedly had a viewership of nearly 300,000. You can see the complete results from the event below.
