Indian boxer Lalrinsanga Tlau is all set to fight for the WBC Youth title against Ghana’s Eric Quarm at the LPS Fight Night which will be held in association with Grassroot Boxing Promotion and Management.
Hailing out of Mizoram, Lalrinsanga Tlau is currently the top-ranked Indian boxer in his division and is ranked fourth in the pound-for-pound rankings for India as well with a record of 3-0. Eric, meanwhile, currently holds a record of 4-1 in his resume.
Earlier, we had reported the news about boxing coach and promoter Mujtaba Kamal's meeting with Mizoram Sports Minister Robert Romawia Royte. The title fight and the event stemmed from the meeting after both parties had agreed to work together for the development of professional boxing in Mizoram. Also playing a huge role in making the event happen is R.Lalchhuanawma, who leads the Sete Boxing Academy and Jose Mohan, who is an Indian Sports Promoter based out of Dubai.
In an exclusive statement, Mujtaba Kamal noted that this is huge news for the professional boxing circuit in India.
Elsewhere, the card will also see some interesting international showdowns with Asad Asif Khan of Kolkata locking horns with Nawid Mohammadi of Afghanistan. Asad is also the top ranked Indian boxer in his weight division and will be looking to improve his impressive run when he fights his Afghani counterpart. A string of boxers from Mizoram will also be action on the card. Vanlalawmpuia of Sete Boxing Academy will fight Rakesh when C.Lalhruaitluanga will lock horns with Joseph Emmangindu in an international bout.
Mazhar Hussain vs. F. Zoramchhana and Rohit Choudhary vs. Zochhuanawma Fania will complete the fight card. You can see the complete fight card for the event below.
