Reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov paid tribute to his late father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov by writing down a verse from the Quran along with a picture on Instagram.
One of the well-known coaches in the Martial Arts circuit, Abdulmanap died earlier this month due to the health complications that arose after he tested positive for COVID-19. He was put in a medically induced coma after a heart-surgery as a result and passed away after a few weeks although he was becoming stable.
Below is what Khabib wrote on his Instagram page:
"Quran 17:23-24.
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.
And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small."
Currently holding a professional record of 28-0 to his name, Khabib’s last fight came against Dustin Poirier which he won via third-round submission. While the return dates of Khabib is not confirmed yet, According to his manager Ali Abdelaziz, Khabib will be fighting Interim UFC Lightweight champion Justin Gaethje next.
