Former UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov might be retired but everyone wants to see the Russian back in the octagon. A lot of names have been linked with Khabib when it comes to a potential UFC return and the recent addition to that list was Israel Adesanya.

Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz recently claimed that Khabib has the ability to stop Israel Adesanya within three rounds if the two fought at Middleweight.

During his Hall of Fame induction, Khabib was asked about this comment from Ali, and the Russian shot down any such possibilities. He also said that Adesanya deserves respect for what he has achieved during his run in the UFC Middleweight division.

"No, because I'm not going to fight in 185, I'm not going to fight with him [Adesanya]. It's like... Right now this is his time you know. [Don't] try to take his like greatness... But going to fight and talk about 'Oh I can smash him.' I didn't say this, people talk about this, I don't agree with this,” he said during one of his media interactions [via Sportskeeda].

The Eagle, however, noted that he is open to a grappling contest with the UFC Middleweight champion if the opportunity arises.

Adesanya has been undefeated in the UFC Middleweight division and has been reigning as a champion for a long time now. He added another successful title defense to his name at UFC 276 when he outpointed Jarred Cannonier in the main event.

He now seems set for a showdown with Alex Pereira who has previously knocked out Adesanya during their showdown in kickboxing.
