The rivalry between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor was something for the ages. It was filled with drama which translated to some excellent action inside the UFC Octagon.

Khabib and Conor fought back in 2018 October at UFC 229 and saw the Russian picking up a fourth-round submission victory. Ahead of his Hall of Fame Induction, Khabib was asked about the best moment of his career and the UFC champion noted that beating Conor McGregor was that moment.

“It was here. This arena, October 6, 2018. The biggest fight in MMA history. I’m very happy I won this fight. I can lose any of my fights but no way this fight,” Khabib said when asked about the best moment of his career.

Khabib fought two more times in the UFC after his win over McGregor. His first fight came against Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 which Khabib won via a third-round submission and his second fight came against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 which Khabib won via second-round submission.

Khabib announced his retirement from MMA after his win over Gaethje and has been busy with his roles as a coach and promoter ever since. The Russian retired with a perfect record of 29-0 to his name as well. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame today alongside Daniel Cormier.

McGregor, on the other hand, is now 22-6 in his professional MMA career and is on a two-fight losing streak having suffered back-to-back losses against Dustin Poirier. He had secured a win over Donald Cerrone after his loss to Khabib but failed to build on the momentum.
