Team Lakay star Joshua Pacio is open to shifting weight classes. The reigning ONE Strawweight champion revealed the same in a recent interview and said that he is ready to explore other weight classes although his focus is on the Strawweight division.
Recently, Pacio had expressed his interest in a fight with Demetrious Johnson and noted that he thought about moving to Flyweight after his fight with Yosuke Saruta.
"Actually, that happened [thought about Flyweight move] last year, when we just beat Saruta, that happened in my mind," Pacio said (h/t ABS CBN)
The Filipino MMA star further went on to add that his current focus is on Strawweight but kept the doors open for shifting weight classes.
"We have that in mind but our priority is of course to still defend the strawweight, the people in the strawweight rankings, that's where we're focused. But of course, if given the opportunity, why not,” he added.
Pacio has been in the ONE Strawweight division for a long time now and he went on to add that he is proud of how the division is growing.
A string of contenders is currently lined up for Pacio with the most notable one being Jarred Brooks who recently stopped Pacio’s teammate Lito Adiwang. Brooks is now set to fight Hiroba Minowa which could work as a title eliminator fight. Despite the long list of challengers, Pacio says that he is ready for anyone.
"We are ready for anyone," Pacio concluded.
