3 Potential opponents for Team Lakay star Lito Adiwang in 2022

Lito Adiwang is looking forward to making a strong comeback in 2022 after his loss to Jarred Brooks at ONE: Next Gen III. Prior to the loss to Brooks, the ‘Thunder Kid’ was riding on an impressive two-fight winning streak having defeated Hexigetu and Naimiki Kawahara.

Though the loss to Brooks might have slowed down Adiwang, he is looking to bounce back strongly. In one of his interviews after the Brooks fight, Adiwang noted that he will be taking the lessons he learned in 2021 and making himself stronger for the upcoming fights.

With that said, there are some interesting fights that ONE Championship could make for Adiwang in the year 2022. Here is a look at three of them.

Yosuke Saruta

Adiwang has already expressed his desire to fight Yosuke Saruta. The Japanese MMA Fighter is currently ranked second in the ONE Championship Strawweight division and is coming off a loss to reigning champion and Adiwang’s Team Lakay teammate Joshua Pacio. The trilogy that Saruta had with Pacio was something special and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he ends up having an equally entertaining rivalry with Lito Adiwang.

Alex Silva

Former Champion Alex Silva is currently riding high on momentum. He is on a two-fight winning streak having defeated Rene Catalan and Li Tao Miao in his last two outings. The Brazilian would be a great matchup for Adiwang considering the experience that he brings to the table. Currently 11-6 in his professional MMA career, Silva has been part of ONE Championship since 2012 and is ranked fifth in the ONE Strawweight rankings.

Jarred Brooks

A rematch between Lito Adiwang and Jarred Brooks is bound to happen sooner or later. Brooks is currently scheduled to fight Hiroba Minowa and has expressed his desire to fight Joshua Pacio for the Strawweight title. No matter which path Brooks goes in, at one point or the other, Brooks might have to cross paths with Adiwang and it would not be surprising if the fight happens in 2022 itself.
