Maybe Bokang, Maybe Brooks: Joshua Pacio ready to defend his title soon
04 February 2022ONE Strawweight champion Joshua Pacio is ready to defend his title in April or May. The Filipino MMA star revealed the same during his recent interview with SCMP MMA where he revealed that he is open to any challenge in the division.
“Maybe Bokang, maybe Brooks, or maybe they will fight each other and the winner will get me, something like that. Anyone – I’m ready to defend my title this April or May, let’s get it on,” he said.
Jarred Brooks has been a force to reckon with in the Strawweight division since his ONE Championship debut and has secured two wins so far. The American defeated Pacio’s Team Lakay teammate Lito Adiwang in his promotional debut and then went on to defeat Hiroba Minowa recently to push his case for a title shot.

Bokang Masunyane, meanwhile, is undefeated in his professional MMA career at the moment with a record of 8-0. He is 2-0 in the promotion just like Brooks and has wins over Rene Catalan and Ryuto Sawada.
“I think Bokang has a difficult situation right now, he’s in South Africa and he can’t come out of his country. If we have the next challenger, maybe Brooks. Brooks has been there in the top level of competition, so for me I’m pushing myself also to become a better fighter. That’s what I love, it’s a challenge,” Pacio added.

The Team Lakay star is currently 19-3 in his professional MMA career and is on a four-fight winning streak at the moment. His most recent win came against Yosuke Saruta and prior to this, he had outclassed Alex Silva and Rene Catalan as well.
