If he is not ready to fight me, then why be the champ: Brooks goes off on Pacio

Jarred Brooks has his eyes firmly set on ONE Strawweight champion Joshua Pacio. Brooks secured a huge win over Hiroba Minowa at ONE: Only the Brave and called out Pacio after the fight.

Brooks has been vocal about fighting Pacio for a long time now. Speaking after his win over Minowa, The Monkey God questioned Pacio’s position as the champion.

“If he isn’t ready to fight me, then why be the champ? You should be ready right now,” Brooks said.

Currently 18-2 in his professional MMA career, Brooks made his promotional debut in ONE Championship against Pacio’s teammate Lito Adiwang and secured a dominant submission win. He feels that Pacio is not ready to fight him.

“I don’t think he wants to fight me any time really soon. He probably wants to fight me in July or something like that. He can take as much time as he wants to prepare. But I think I can beat Joshua Pacio right now. He knows why he should be afraid. He’s never fought another person like me inside the Circle. I know Josh has been watching me ever since I beat Lito, ever since I was in the UFC, so yeah, he should be worried. My tool belt is a little bit heftier than his for sure,” the American added.

He even went on to add that he is ready to fight in March if ONE Championship allows him to compete against Pacio.

“If Chatri, if Rich [Franklin], if Matt [Hume], all these guys want me to fight in March I would be more than happy to. I’m looking to get a lot of cash and get some belts. I want to spring myself into this promotion as much as possible,” he added.
