UFC is set to return this weekend with UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Shahbazyan. The event, which was initially supposed to be headlined by Holly Holm and Irene Aldana had a last-minute change recently as Aldana, unfortunately, tested positive for COVID-19.

The showdown between Brunson and Shahbazyan was eventually made the main event and now, it is a fight that everyone is looking forward to.

Shahbazyan is considered to be one of the most exciting prospects on the UFC roster at the moment and in his way will be an experienced name in the form of Derek Brunson. As for Brunson, he is done hearing about Shahbazyan and wants to end the hype when they meet inside the cage.

“It’s a high profile fight. Definitely need to go out there and set the tone. This fight can catapult me into another big fight. Where they’re talking him as a potential title challenger, the same thing they were saying about the last guy I fought (Ian Heinisch) and kind of took his hype away from him,” Brunson said to MMA Fighting.

He also went on to add that a win against Shahbazyan will put his title hunt on track.

“This guy right here, he’s talking about being the youngest champion. I go out here and beat him up, that takes everything away. He’s got to reset and that puts me back in the picture and people will start talking about me and my title hunt also.” he added.
