Former UFC champion Conor McGregor apparently wants a Lightweight title showdown with Charles Oliveira. McGregor tweeted out about the same last day and even posted a picture with the title belt around his waist.
“So what date am I fighting Oliveira?” McGregor tweeted after UFC 269 which saw Oliveira successfully defend the UFC Lightweight title against Dustin Poirier.
Currently holding a professional MMA record of 22-6 to his name, McGregor is sitting on a two-fight losing streak having lost to Dustin Poirier twice. Prior to this, he had secured a win over Donald Cerrone back in January 2020. The Irish superstar has been out of action since his trilogy fight with Poirier after he broke his leg in the showdown.

Interestingly, Oliveira was asked about the possibility of fighting McGregor recently and the champion noted that he was confident about knocking out McGregor.
“I am always ready to fight. They are two big names in the sport, the lightweights. Everyone knows that a fight with Conor has a lot of money and one with Dustin not so much, but they are two great opponents. I don’t choose my fights. I will be ready. I really believe in my jiu-jitsu against either of them, but something tells me that if I fought them, I would knock them both out. I’m feeling fine,” Oliveira said (h/t MMAJunkie).
Dana White, meanwhile, said that Justin Gaethje might be the next best option for Oliveira although nothing is confirmed as of now.
