Bellator MMA returned with Bellator 245 today which was headlined by the rematch between Phil Davis and Lyoto Machida. Just like their last outing, the showdown between Davis and Machida went the complete distance with the judges ruling in favor of Davis via a split decision.
With the win, Machida is currently on a two-fight losing streak having lost his last fight to Gegard Mousasi. Davis, on the other hand, is on a three-fight winning streak after the win. The first match between Davis and Machida happened back at UFC 163 in 2013 and was also won by Davis via a unanimous decision.
The co-main event saw the promotional debut of Cat Zingano who took on Gabrielle Holloway. Zingano secured a decision victory after three-rounds when Taylor Johnson also got a win to his name when he submitted Ed Ruth via heel hook in the first round itself. This was Zingano’s first fight after 2018 when she fought Megan Anderson in the UFC and suffered a TKO loss.
As for Taylor Johnson, he bounced back strongly from his loss at the Dana White’s Contender Series back in 2019 with his submission win. Elsewhere, the undercard saw Leslie Smith pick up an impressive win when Raymond Daniels and Alex Polizzi were also on the winning column.
Below are the complete results from the event.
