Vitaly Bigdash defeats Aung La N Sang in trilogy fight via decision

The much-awaited trilogy fight between Aung La N Sang and Vitaly Bigdash happened today at ONE: Full Circle and saw Bigdash picking up a decision win. 

Bigdash started the fight on a strong note by taking the fight into the clinch. The Russian was looking for a takedown early on and succeeded in his second attempt although Aung La managed to stand up soon. Aung La turned the fight in his favor and chased Bigdash with some big punches. The former ONE Double champion had some success on the clinch as well in the first round. A headbutt from Aung La broke the fight for a couple of minutes before it was resumed by the referee. 

After the break, Bigdash went for another takedown and landed it successfully. Bigdash took Aung La's back and illegal strikes from him to the back of the head of Aung La resulted in another injury time in the first round. Bigdash closed the round strongly by landing another takedown. 

Aung La dropped some huge shots early in the second round when Bigdash was continuously looking for the takedown. Bigdash succeeded after many attempts and got the back of Aung La midway through the second round. Aung La survived till the end of the round and kept himself active in the meantime as well. Bigdash landed a takedown to start off the third round. Though Aung La bridged out of the takedown, Bigdash landed yet another takedown out of which Aung La could not escape. In the end, the judges ruled the fight in favor of Vitaly Bigdash via a decision. 

This was the third fight between Aung La N Sang and Vitaly Bigdash as both fighters fought twice prior to ONE: Full Circle. The rivalry was 1-1 heading into the trilogy bout which in turn made the showdown that happened today a rubber match.

Ahead of the fight, drama unfolded at Bigdash failed to make weight. Aung La, however, decided to take the fight at Catchweight.

Aung La N Sang came into the fight on the back of a knockout win over Leandro Ataides and suffered two back-to-back losses against Reinier De Ridder prior to this. As a result of his losses against De Ridder, Aung La lost the ONE Middleweight and ONE Light Heavyweight title as well.

Interestingly, Aung La had also noted that he will not be shaving until he gets the ONE Middleweight title back.

Vitaly Bigdash, meanwhile, came into the fight on the back of a two-fight winning streak. Prior to the fight, he had expressed his desire to fight ONE Middleweight champion Reinier De Ridder and made it clear that he is out to capture two titles in ONE Championship.

ONE Full Circle was headlined by the ONE Middleweight title bout between Champion Reinier De Ridder and ONE Welterweight champion Kiamrian Abbasov who moved up a weight class to challenge the Dutchman.
