Arian Sadikovic makes his return to the ONE Championship Circle this Friday, 22 April, and he seeks to snatch the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship from long-time world champion Regian Eersel in the main event of ONE 156: Eersel vs. Sadikovic.
Sadikovic currently holds a 22-3 professional record and most recently defeated Mustapha Haida in his debut on the global stage this past December. Aptly dubbed “Game Over” for his ferocious fighting style, the German athlete picked apart the #2-ranked contender by attacking his abdomen with hooks and knees. He earned a unanimous decision win for his effort, and that shot him right to the front of the queue for a World Title shot.
“I was surprised a little bit [to get a title shot already]. I thought I needed to fight Holzken, because Haida was two or three in the rankings, I think, and Nieky Holzken was number one. So, I thought, ‘Okay, I will fight Holzken, and if I win there I’ll get a title shot.’ But that wasn’t the case. I was very happy when they told me I was getting a title shot. I told them, 'Of course I want that,'” Sadikovic said.
“Game Over” has been training for this opportunity for half his life, as the 27-year-old fighter began his career when he was just 13 years old. With a heavy boxing background, Sadikovic is certain he will be the man to finally overthrow “The Immortal,” who hasn’t lost a bout in six years.
“My boxing skills are better. Like always, I’m a fighter who’s going for KOs. The dream ending for me is a good right hand to his face and knock him out. That’s my dream,” Sadikovic said.
