6th Bengaluru Open MMA Championship wraps up successfully, list of medal winners

The 6th Bengaluru Open MMA Championship is in the books and on the last day of the tournament crowned new national champions across all the weight categories.

The fourth day of the event happened on 19 December 2021 at the Forum Neighbourhood Mall in Whitefield and was kickstarted by the Youth bouts. Team Telangana had a strong showing in the category taking home five gold medals from the possible six gold medals in Youth.

The bouts in the Youth Category were followed by Women’s Semi-Finals which witnessed a record stoppage from Tamil Nadu’s Afshan as she scored a four-second TKO stoppage. Afshan went on to take home her third straight gold medal of the year when RK Pooja of Karnataka and Sonam of Chhattisgarh got gold medals in their respective categories.

Shubham Pandey and Abdul Rahman delivered one of the most exciting fights of the event in the Lightweight category semi-finals. It was Shubham that came out on top in the end and he went on to win a Gold medal as well and was adjudged the best fighter of the tournament alongside Afshan and Daivik Maskari. Daivik won Gold in the Flyweight category outclassing Dhanjyothi Rabha in the finals.

Owais Yakub of Jammu and Kashmir took home the gold medal in the welterweight category with some memorable wins when Naina Mohammed won the Featherweight Gold. You can see the complete results from the event below.
