Week 6 of Dana White’s Contender Series 2025 delivered another night of highlight-reel finishes and emotional moments on Tuesday night at the UFC APEX, as four fighters were awarded UFC contracts following impressive performances.
Hecher Sosa Overcomes Personal Loss, Wins in Main Event
In the bantamweight main event, Hecher Sosa defeated Mackson Lee by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26). The win was especially meaningful for Sosa, who competed just days after the death of his father following a battle with cancer.
Sosa used relentless pressure, wrestling, and grappling to control the fight. He nearly finished with a choke in the third round, but Lee survived to the final bell. UFC CEO Dana White offered Sosa a contract following the bout, praising his resilience and performance.
Iwo Baraniewski Scores 20-Second Knockout
In the co-main event, Iwo Baraniewski stunned Mahamed Aly with a lightning-fast knockout in just 20 seconds, the fifth-fastest finish in Contender Series history.
Baraniewski countered a low kick with a clean right hook that dropped Aly instantly. A few follow-up shots sealed the deal, earning Baraniewski a UFC contract and one of the night’s most memorable moments.
Tommy Gantt Submits Adam Livingston
Former NCAA All-American wrestler Tommy Gantt showed off his grappling credentials in a first-round submission win over Adam Livingston in their lightweight bout.
Despite multiple fence grabs by Livingston, Gantt remained composed and eventually locked in a guillotine choke at 2:47 of Round 1. The performance secured Gantt a UFC contract and further validated the hype around the Daniel Cormier protégé.
Cody Chovancek Stays Undefeated with Knockout Win
In the opening bout, Cody Chovancek remained unbeaten with a third-round knockout of Raphael Uchegbu, earning a UFC deal in the process.
After landing an elbow in Round 1 that shifted the momentum, Chovancek continued to dominate. He finished the fight with a clean right hand just 10 seconds into Round 3.
McCorry Wins, But Misses Out on Contract
Paddy McCorry, a former The Ultimate Fighter 32 contestant, picked up a unanimous decision win (30-27 x3) over In Su Hwang, using his footwork and striking to stay out of danger. However, the cautious performance wasn’t enough to impress Dana White, who advised McCorry to gain more experience before returning.
