On Sunday, August 7, live coverage of UFC FIGHT NIGHT: SANTOS vs. HILL from UFC APEX in Las Vegas was broadcast across Asia. Even though there were only 10 fights on the card, each one had a thrilling conclusion.
The predicted spectacular slugfest between light heavyweight contenders No. 6 Thiago Santos and No. 10 Jamahal Hill was delivered. Santos was forced to rely on his wrestling, where he dealt some damage, by Hill's volume and precision. Hill ultimately won the fight with a mount and elbows in the fourth round TKO.
"I just don't stop working. That's what I learned from my coaches and my team, we keep working. I feel like a title shot would be good. I've got twice as many finishes as he does. If not, Jan Blachowicz would be nice. Keep pushing me up there,” Hill noted.
In a crucial contest, welterweight contender Geoff Neal, ranked No. 13, outpunched No. 6 Vicente Luque, continuing his impressive ascent with a barrage of blows that earned him a TKO victory in the third round.
"The tougher the opponent, the more you get out of it, and Luque brought out the dog in me. Honestly, I'm looking at Gilbert Burns, I want him next,” Neal said.
Mohammed Usman, a heavyweight, recovered from a difficult first round to defeat Zac Pauga in the second with his signature left hook. Usman is the first pair of brothers to win The Apprentice, joining Kamaru Usman, the current welterweight champion of the UFC.
In the women's flyweight division, Juliana Miller of Team Pena outworked Brogan Walker of Team Nunes. Miller demonstrated her superior strength in the clinch, secured takedowns, and won the fight through TKO in round three. You can see the complete results from the event below.
