UFC 329 results: Max Holloway defeats Conor McGregor after injury

Max Holloway earned a TKO victory over former two-division champion Conor McGregor after an unfortunate injury ended their highly anticipated rematch in the main event of UFC 329 on Sunday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The sold-out event drew an attendance of 20,078 and generated a record-breaking gate of $26,430,566, the highest-grossing event in UFC history.

McGregor's long-awaited return to the Octagon came to an abrupt end just over a minute into the opening round. After throwing a high kick, the Irish star suffered a knee injury on his weight-bearing leg and was unable to continue. The referee waved off the contest at 1:09 of the first round, awarding Holloway the victory by TKO.

Following the fight, Holloway praised his longtime rival and immediately called for a trilogy bout.

In the co-main event, Paddy Pimblett delivered the most impressive performance of his UFC career, submitting No. 5-ranked lightweight Benoit Saint Denis in just 52 seconds. After Saint Denis initiated a takedown attempt, Pimblett quickly transitioned from a guillotine to a D'Arce choke, forcing a technical submission and extending his rise in the lightweight division.

On the main card, Mario Bautista earned a unanimous decision over Cory Sandhagen, Brandon Royval submitted Lone'er Kavanagh in the third round to claim Fight of the Night honors, and King Green stopped Terrance McKinney via TKO in the opening round.

The preliminary card featured several notable finishes. Former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker stopped Nikita Krylov in the third round, Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson recorded his first UFC victory with a first-round TKO over Elisha Ellison, Adrian Yanez finished former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt in the opening round, Luke Riley earned a first-round TKO against Kai Kamaka III, and Damian Pinas knocked out Cesar Almeida with a right hand.

China's Wang Cong also continued her rise in the women's strawweight division, defeating Tracy Cortez by unanimous decision for her fourth consecutive UFC victory despite being deducted a point for an illegal knee.

Brandon Royval and Lone'er Kavanagh earned Fight of the Night honors. Performance of the Night bonuses went to Paddy Pimblett and King Green, while finish bonuses were awarded to Damian Pinas, Luke Riley, Adrian Yanez, Gable Steveson and Robert Whittaker.
