Reigning ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai has heard his opponent's talk, and the 26-year-old Thai superstar plans to silence Liu Mengyang with a decisive performance at ONE Friday Fights 137 on 19 December.
The featherweight kickboxing bout at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok will close out 2025 and represents a crucial step in Tawanchai's quest to become a two-sport ONE World Champion.
Liu has attempted to get under Tawanchai's skin with pre-fight comments suggesting he fears him, but the Thai striker dismissed the rhetoric as nothing more than promotional noise.
"Liu Mengyang claimed I was afraid of him, but I know better; people say things for engagement. We'll find out the truth in the ring," Tawanchai stated.
The PK Saenchai Muaythaigym representative has compiled a 10-2 ONE record, establishing himself as one of the most dangerous strikers in the sport.
Tawanchai has analyzed the 22-year-old Chinese challenger and identified both strengths and opportunities to exploit.
"I see Liu as a tough, durable fighter with good punching skills. That's what's visible right now. As for his weaknesses, you'll have to watch the fight to find out. For my weapon of choice, it is still going to be that powerful left kick," the Thai champion revealed.
Liu brings legitimate credentials into this showdown with a 34-7 career record and two promotional victories.
He shocked Noiri in his ONE Championship debut via unanimous decision, the same Noiri who later defeated Tawanchai. Most recently, Liu defeated Thai contender Shadow Singha Mawynn in September, proving his ability to compete against elite opposition.
For Tawanchai, this bout carries enormous implications for his championship aspirations across multiple disciplines.
"This fight is crucial. I cannot afford to lose, as it will make my path to the kickboxing title much harder. This fight won't go to the scorecards. My goal is simple: I want that second belt. That drive makes me confident that I will be the kickboxing champion next year," Tawanchai said.
