Rodtang and Reinier De Ridder predict Johnson vs. Moraes II

The highly anticipated showdown between Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes happens at ONE on Prime Video I this weekend. The two will battle for the ONE Flyweight title and the fight will serve as the main event for the card.

Johnson will be looking to add one more major title to his resume when Moraes will be eager to repeat history and get another win over the former UFC champion.

The hype is real and the ONE Championship stars recently weighed in on the fight as well in interviews with ONE Championship. 

Reinier De Ridder goes with Adriano Moraes

Two division champion Reinier De Ridder feels that Adriano Moraes is too dominant at the moment. The Dutchman also pointed out that the Brazilian is too big for DJ and predicted a third-round submission finish.

“I think it’s more of the same, to be honest. Adriano was just too dominant. [He] moves too well [and was] too big for DJ, and it’s his time. DJ’s had his time. He’s been the best for a long time, but those days are over right now. I’d say [it ends with a] rear-naked choke, third round,” he said.

Demetrious Johnson has never been submitted in his entire career and if the prediction of De Ridder comes to fruition, it would be a huge upset.

Rodtang goes with Adriano Moraes

Rodtang, who shared the ONE circle with Demetrious Johnson, also feels that Adriano has what it takes to retain the title.

“I think Adriano will dominate DJ with his well-rounded skills. He can fight in every range. Certainly, DJ is undisputedly an excellent grappler and wrestler, but with his small size, he has to put in much more energy to drop Adriano’s gas tank on the ground game [if he were to get a] submission,” Rodtang noted.

Rodtang and Demetrious Johnson fought in a special rules fight sometime back and it was Johnson that came out on top with a submission win. While Rodtang is aware of the danger that Johnson brings to the table, the Muay Thai stars feel that Adriano has the edge in the showdown.

“If [Adriano], himself, runs out of gas, he will be at risk. But if DJ gets a chance to choke [his opponent], he will finish Adriano. But in my opinion, I predict Adriano will win once again in this fight,” he added.
