Rodtang details how he met Aida Looksaikongdin, wants to be role models

Rodtang Jitmuangnon of Thailand has had a hectic start to his 2023 campaign, both inside and outside of the ONE Championship Circle.

At ONE Fight Night 6, the longstanding ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion won a dramatic decision over Jiduo Yibu in a catchweight kickboxing battle in January.

Just one month later, he made a significant personal stride forward by marrying his fiancée and fellow Muay Thai fighter Aida Looksaikongdin, while also switching to his wife's religion of Islam.

Rodtang is one of the world's most popular and beloved combat sports athletes, having gone undefeated in 13 all-striking battles in ONE. Fans are naturally curious about how he and his spouse met.

“I met Aida in 2020. We talked through messages and got closer until we decided to date each other. We once broke up because we didn’t understand each other. But when we both grew up, we talked to each other again and decided to begin again in our relationship until we were married,” he told in his recent interview with ONE Championship.

While "The Iron Man" is still in his prime and shows no signs of slowing down, he also values the security that a strong marriage can bring once he's finished facing the best of the best in ONE Championship.

Rodtang realises that he will have a brief period of dominance over the martial arts world. From there, he can look forward to a simple retirement, whenever that may be:

“I always wanted to live the married life and have a family because I’m getting older. I’ve been a fighter for a long time and I’m tired. You can’t stay in this career forever. As a fighter, time is limited for us in this career. I want to live the rest of my life with my happy family,” he added.

While concluding, he noted that he wants to be a role model for his children.

“I want to have kids and enjoy a couple’s life. And if I can, I will have my own gym for our next generation of fighters. Of course, since I have a family now, I must have more determination. And I have an explicit goal to be a role model for my children. I want them to see dad as their idol,” he added.
