At ONE on Prime Video 5, a fight between two unbeaten fighters, "The Dutch Knight" Reinier de Ridder and "Sladkiy" Anatoly Malykhin, will take place. One fighter claims that the bout for the light heavyweight title was scheduled because Arjan Bhullar, the current ONE heavyweight world champion, is inactive.

In 2021, Arjan Bhullar defeated Brandon Vera through technical knockout to win the ONE heavyweight world championship. Since then, Bhullar hasn't fought because of contract talks and injuries.

Anatoly Malykhin was later named the interim heavyweight world champion by ONE Championship. Due to the absence of Arjan and now, the interim heavyweight champion will now contend for the ONE light heavyweight world championship.

Speaking to SCMP MMA, Reinier De Ridder revealed that a Heavyweight unification title fight was initially planned but the same did not go through due to Arjan Bhullar being inactive.

"This only happened sometime last week. It took a little while to put this together. I think they were aiming at making Malykhin versus Bhullar first. I’m not sure what the situation is there. Bhullar has been out for how long now? Like one-and-a-half years. I’m not sure what they’re up to there,” he said.

De Ridder and Malykhin are both undefeated in ONE Championship. The Dutch superstar has already captured two titles in ONE Championship and a win over the Interim Heavyweight champion could set him up for a shot at the Heavyweight title in the future.

Earlier, De Ridder had called out Arjan Bhullar but the fight did not materialize.
