ONE Championship will host ONE SAMURAI 2 on Saturday, August 8, in Tokyo, Japan, featuring three featherweight kickboxing tournament quarterfinal matchups that will determine the semifinal participants.
The ONE SAMURAI Featherweight Kickboxing Tournament winner earns a World Title shot against ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon.
The main event reunites Masaaki Noiri and Liu Mengyang nearly two years after their first encounter. Noiri, a former ONE Interim Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion, fell short in his bid for undisputed gold against Superbon at ONE 173 last November.
The Japanese striker previously defeated Shakir Al-Tekreeti in January 2025 and knocked out Tawanchai PK Saenchai to claim interim championship status two months later, following an early ONE Championship run that saw him fall in his first two appearances, including a decision loss to Liu at ONE Friday Fights 92 in 2024.
Liu has compiled three consecutive victories since his initial meeting with Noiri. The Chinese striker defeated Tawanchai via knockout at ONE Friday Fights 137 this past December and was positioned for World Title consideration before Superbon withdrew due to injury. Liu also suffered a split-decision loss to Mohammad Siasarani during this period.
The co-main event features a rematch between Kaito Ono and Mohammad Siasarani. Kaito, Shoot Boxing's biggest star, carries championship credentials from Shoot Boxing, RISE, and KNOCK OUT but has yet to record a victory in ONE Championship.
He fell to Marat Grigorian at ONE SAMURAI 1 this past April. Their first meeting at ONE Friday Fights 109 in May 2025 resulted in Siasarani's victory. Siasarani enters the tournament undefeated in ONE kickboxing competition.
The third quarterfinal matchup features Kosuke Takagi facing Luo Chao.
Supporting card action includes seven additional bouts across MMA and kickboxing disciplines at strawweight, bantamweight, lightweight, and featherweight divisions.
