Legendary Nong-O Eyes ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title At ONE 173

Former eight-time ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama will challenge global superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the vacant ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on 16 November.

The 38-year-old Thai legend moved down from bantamweight to pursue championship gold in a new weight class, eventually earning a title shot against arguably the biggest name in Muay Thai today.

Nong-O brings 267 career victories and 12 ONE wins to the matchup, while the 28-year-old Rodtang holds 274 career victories with 17 ONE wins. The former flyweight king seeks to reclaim the title he once held.

The veteran champion expressed enthusiasm about facing Thailand's most famous fighter.

"I feel really excited and happy to be fighting with Rodtang. Since I reduced my weight, I actually wanted to be a champion. Now that we are matched up, I'm really excited about this because Rodtang is globally famous," Nong-O stated.

The fight pits contrasting styles and career stages against each other in what promises to be an all-action encounter between two of Thailand's greatest.

"I am highly experienced. Rodtang is a famous star who has his hunger for victory. When experience is against hunger, I am sure that this fight is going to be really entertaining," the former bantamweight king analyzed.

At 38, Nong-O competes with legacy motivations beyond just championship gold.

"I would like the world to remember me as a fighter — a fighter who works hard, who is determined, despite his age," he explained.

The vacant title fight represents one of the most anticipated all-Thai matchups in ONE Championship history, with both fighters carrying massive followings and proven credentials.

Nong-O seeks to become ONE World Champion across different weight classes, while Rodtang aims to reclaim the flyweight throne and reassert his dominance in the division he once ruled.
