Mrunal Thakur trains under Indian MMA fighter Rohit Nair
Interestingly, she trains under Indian MMA fighter Rohit Nair who has plenty of experience when it comes to MMA and combat sports. He has represented India both inside and outside the country having fought across multiple combat sports disciplines.
It was her co-star in the movie "Toofan", Farhan Akhtar, who inspired her to take up MMA. Mrunal has a few action scenes in the movie and believes that Farhan's dedication and passion towards his craft are truly inspiring.
She says, "Farhan personifies the word passion. You have to witness him in action to comprehend it. I saw it firsthand on the sets. His boxing scenes in 'Toofan' are incredibly impactful, and that wouldn't have been possible without his rigorous training and 100% effort in every scene. It was while working with Farhan that I was introduced to MMA and saw how effectively it works to attain physical fitness and control over one's body."

"Since I am familiar with the techniques and postures, we decided to include a few kicks at the last minute. Initially, the makers were hesitant, but I am glad they kept those shots. It was enjoyable to kick and punch, even if it was for a song. More than dancing, my fitness training was beneficial for my role in Selfiee," she adds.
