Mariusz Pudzianowski: Strongest Man turned MMA fighter

Mariusz Pudzianowski is a Polish MMA star who has won five World’s Strongest Man Titles. Hailing from Poland, he is also known as the Pudzian or Dominator. Here is what you need to know about him.

Early life and Strongman career

Pudzianowski was born in Poland and his father was a weight-lifter. As a youngster, he started training in Karate and strength training at the age of thirteen. Two years later, he would go on to train in Boxing which served as a base for his MMA career which started in 2009.

It was in 1999 that Pudzianowski made his Strongman competition debut. A year later, in 2000, he finished fourth in the World’s Strongest Man competition. Two years later, the Pudzian would go on to win the competition and shocked everyone by winning the title once again in 2003.

When he was disqualified in the year of 2004, he came back strongly in 2005 by taking home the title once again. Pudzianowski then won the World’s Strongest Man title again in 2007 and 2008 making him the only person to win the title five times.

Pudzianowski in MMA

In 2009, Pudzianowski signed a four-fight deal with KSW. He made his debut at KSW 12 on 11 December 2009 and secured a stoppage win. He returned in 2010 and secured the second win of his MMA career when he edged out Yusuke Kawaguchi via a decision at KSW 13.

The Polish fighter suffered the first loss of his career in 2010 as well when he was submitted by Tim Sylvia at Moosin God of Martial Arts events.

He also fought names like James Thompson, Bob Sapp, Oli Thompson among others during his initial four years in KSW. Pudzianowski soon became a mainstay in KSW and has fought 23 times in the promotion amassing 17 wins. 12 out of his 17 wins have come via stoppages with 5 coming via decisions. Interestingly, he is yet to have a submission win in his career.

He has won two “knockout of the night” awards in KSW for his outings against Rolles Gracie Jr and Michal Materla. He also holds the record for the most wins in the KSW Heavyweight history with 17 along with the most knockouts in the division at 12.

He also holds the record for the most knockouts in the KSW promotional history with 12. Pudzianowski has been one of the biggest stars for KSW through their run and has the third most number of fights in KSW history with 24.

Apart from MMA, he also spends time with Rugby and is an amateur Rugby union player.

What is the diet of Mariusz Pudzianowski?

One of the most asked questions on the internet about Pudzianowski is his diet. When asked about his diet in one of the interviews, he noted that he eats everything and that he does not follow any particular diet.

In another interview, he spoke about how he planned his meals and that he prefers Polish Cuisine. Below is the breakdown of his meals based on the response that he gave

Average Daily Diet of Pudzianowski

  • Morning: 10 eggs and two to three pounds of Bacon
  • Morning Snack: 3 Musketeers and/or snickers bars
  • Lunch: Double meal of Pork chop, sauerkraut and potatoes.
  • Noon Snack: Supplements with Magnesium, creatine, amino acids and chocolate.
  • Dinner: Meat mostly like Steaks, pork chops, bacon along with sauerkraut and potatoes

“At 9 or 10 PM, I work out again. Afterwards, I have a protein shake and more chocolate. At 3 or 4 AM, I wake up and have more chocolate, then go back to sleep until morning,” he said in one of his interviews after revealing his eating habits.

The Businessman

While he has managed to build a reputation for himself in sports, he notes that he only does sports as a hobby. He holds a master’s degree in international relations and has multiple business ventures.

He has a school for bodyguards and real estate properties which he points out as his major sources of income. He also owns a truck cargo company which is known as Pudzianowski Transport.
