Lito "Thunder Kid" Adiwang is gearing up for a highly anticipated rematch against Jeremy "The Jaguar" Miado at ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade on November 4, hosted inside the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Their initial encounter at ONE X in March 2022 promised to be a show-stealer but took an unexpected turn when Adiwang suffered a knee injury in the second round. Now, both Filipino strawweights are eager to settle the score in what is expected to be a thrilling rematch.
Adiwang sees this as an opportunity to secure his second win in just six weeks and, more importantly, to address what he perceived as a lack of sportsmanship from Miado and his team during the aftermath of the first bout.
Expressing his motivation for the rematch, Adiwang stated to ABS CBN "I really wanted this rematch. When we first met, honestly, I wasn't that excited because I knew I was facing a fellow Filipino, and he wasn't in the top five, so there really wasn't any fire at all. But I'm now truly excited. I'm on fire for this rematch, and it's because of him and his cornermen. Honestly, I was hurt with the way they celebrated when I got injured. He wasn't even winning that fight, and they were celebrating like that."
After a challenging 18-month recovery from the knee injury, Adiwang made a triumphant return at ONE Friday Fights 34, securing victory in just 23 seconds against Adrian Mattheis. With his confidence restored, Adiwang is determined to bring his A-game to the upcoming rematch.
"In this rematch, I'm coming with my A game," Adiwang vowed. "I'm not going to hold back. Let's finish this, and may the best man win." The stage is set for an explosive showdown as both fighters look to etch their names in the annals of ONE Championship history.
