Khabib Nurmagomedov is a role model to many people out there. The Former UFC champion had an unblemished professional MMA career which saw him build up a record of 29-0.
Khabib was also the reigning UFC Lightweight champion when he retired from the sport to honour the promise that he made to his mother.
While we all know that Khabib is a role model to many people, do you know who Khabib follows?
During one of his past interactions with the fans, Khabib was asked whether he follows the footsteps of the great Muhammad Ali.
Khabib, however, noted that he does not follow the footsteps of Muhammad Ali and added that he follows the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad.
“I don’t want to be like Muhammad Ali. I look at our prophet Muhammad. This is for us [Muslims] example. I watch how he [Muhammad Ali]. I watch like what he do. A lot of things but I don’t think I’m even close to Muhammad Ali. If I want to move like Muhammad Ali in the ring, yes of course. Muhammad Ali and other people can inspire us. But when we need something, like to find knowledge or to follow someone, we have him. We have already Allah gave us. Allah Choose him [Prophet Muhammad], we don’t choose him. Allah choose him,” Khabib said.
The Russian has been a vocal follower of the Islamic religion and he has never shown shyness to admit the same.
After retiring from the sport, Khabib has been busy wearing the hats of a coach, a promoter, and a businessman. However, he recently stepped away from his role as a coach.
