On Wednesday, it was announced that Nate Diaz and Jake Paul would finally put an end to their long-running beef when they square off on August 5 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas in an eight-round, 185-pound boxing contest.
The fight airs live on DAZN pay-per-view and is jointly promoted by Diaz's Real Fight, Inc. and Paul's Most Valuable Promotions.
The announcement led to a long list of reactions on Twitter with the reactions ranging from both extremes.
“Back to fighting retired MMA guys in boxing” one user tweeted.
Some users even noted that it will be an easy win for Jake Paul when others asked when the script will be leaked.
“Lose to a "boxer" back to box mma guys, proves you cant box,if Tommy beat you, imagine if you fought a good boxer, stay in that lane outside boxing,” another user noted.
Meanwhile, UFC fighter Sean Strickland had an extreme reaction.
“Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz such a f*cking joke. I'm not hating on either for making money of this clown show I'm hating on the fact a RETIRED 155er is fighting a juiced tiktoker at 185 who lost to a recreational boxer Tommy Furry. STOP WATCHING THIS BS!! IT NEEDS TO DIE...” Strickland tweeted.
In another tweet, Strickland once again blasted the decision from Jake.
“Jake Paul "There is this guy named Tommy Furry who doesn't really train or fight, I think people will think if I beat this guy with a Furry last name I'll be a boxer" Recreational Furry "well I guess I can box again" Jake Paul "ok let's go back to 55er retired mma fighters"” Strickland tweeted.
Interestingly, Jake Paul has inked a deal with PFL as well for his MMA Debut. You can see some reactions below.
"Jake Paul just said beating Nate Diaz will bring him one step closer to fighting Jens Pulver."
"Jake Paul is in big trouble, big big trouble."
"Nate fans are gonna cry so hard when Jake beats him"
"I can’t wait for the press conference and sh*t talkin"
