Jack Della Maddalena, born on September 10, 1996, has quickly made a name for himself as a talented mixed martial artist from Australia.

Rugby to MMA

Della Maddalena's journey in combat sports began at a young age. At eight years old, he started playing rugby, a sport he pursued throughout his schooling years, from year six to year twelve. It was his older brother Josh who influenced him to join a boxing gym at the age of fourteen, initially as a means to enhance his fitness for the rugby season. However, Della Maddalena soon developed a deep passion for the sport of boxing and, after his rugby career concluded, he transitioned into full-time MMA training.

During his educational journey, Della Maddalena attended St. Kevin's College in Melbourne, Victoria, and Aquinas College in Perth, Western Australia. These formative years shaped his character and laid the foundation for his future success in the world of MMA.

Professional MMA and UFC debut

Della Maddalena made his professional MMA debut on March 12, 2016, in a bout against Aldin Bates. Unfortunately, he suffered a TKO loss in the third round. Undeterred, he continued to hone his skills and faced Darcy Vendy in his next fight, but again faced defeat via submission in the first round. However, Della Maddalena embarked on an impressive nine-fight winning streak, capturing the Eternal Welterweight Championship and successfully defending it four times along the way.

His exceptional performances caught the attention of the UFC, and Della Maddalena received an invitation to compete in Dana White's Contender Series 39. On September 14, 2021, he faced Ange Loosa and secured a unanimous decision victory, earning himself a coveted UFC contract.

Della Maddalena's UFC debut was scheduled against Warlley Alves on January 22, 2022, at UFC 270. However, Alves withdrew from the fight, and Della Maddalena faced promotional newcomer Pete Rodriguez instead. Demonstrating his skills and tenacity, he emerged victorious with a first-round TKO.

An impressive run in the UFC

Continuing his UFC journey, Della Maddalena faced Ramazan Emeev on June 11, 2022, at UFC 275. With an impressive display of skill and power, he secured a first-round TKO victory, earning him the well-deserved Performance of the Night accolade.

In his next bout on November 19, 2022, at UFC Fight Night: Nzechukwu vs. Cuțelaba, Della Maddalena faced Danny Roberts. He showcased his striking prowess, delivering a technical knockout in the first round and earning his second consecutive Performance of the Night bonus.

Della Maddalena's winning streak continued as he faced Randy Brown on February 12, 2023, at UFC 284. In a display of his well-rounded skill set, he submitted Brown in the first round, once again earning the Performance of the Night award.

Scheduled to face Sean Brady at UFC 290 on July 8, 2023, Della Maddalena faced an unexpected turn of events. Brady withdrew from the bout due to an undisclosed injury, and Josiah Harrell stepped in as a replacement. However, the day before the event, Harrell was pulled from the fight due to a medical condition, and the bout was unfortunately cancelled.

As Della Maddalena's star continues to rise in the UFC, fans eagerly anticipate his future performances and the impact he will make in the welterweight division. With his dedication, skill, and unwavering determination, Giacomo Della Maddalena represents a promising talent from the land Down Under in the world of MMA.
