Alex Pereira feels that Israel Adesanya called out Dricus Du Plessis because it was an easy fight.
In his most recent bout, "The Last Stylebender" knocked out Pereira in the main event of UFC 287 to reclaim the middleweight title. That victory avenged the dramatic fifth-round TKO at UFC 281 in which "Poatan" won the title and became only the second man in MMA history to defeat Adesanya.
Adesanya's sixth successful defence of the middleweight title would have been a win in the first battle versus Pereira, and with his Brazilian foe reportedly moving to light heavyweight, there has been much speculation over who might be the first challenger to Adesanya's second title reign.

The 33-year-old has previously defeated a lot of the division's finest competitors, but the outcome of the next bout between Du Plessis and Whittaker will almost certainly determine who will try for his belt next.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Brazilian noted that it will be a massacre if Adesanya fights The South African.
“Let’s speak about if Du Plessis wins. I think it will be a massacre. Adesanya knows this. He wants to make history. He wants to have an easy fight. For me it’s Du Plessis, he is way easier than Whittaker. He wants to make history and collect wins and he knows it’s a good fight for him,” he said in the video.
Du Plessis, the promotion's #6 middleweight contender, is undefeated since entering the UFC in 2020. The 29-year-old most recently defeated Derek Brunson at UFC 285, and "Stillknocks" has expressed his desire to face Adesanya before his fight with Whittaker at UFC 290.
