Ulaanbaatar, April 1, 2026: India has made an impressive start at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026, registering a series of commanding victories in the opening rounds of the competition.
Leading the charge in the women’s division, Preeti Pawar (54 kg) and Priya (60 kg) secured dominant 5-0 unanimous decision wins over Kazakhstan’s Elina Bazarova and Rimma Volossenko, respectively. Their clinical performances underlined India’s strength in the women’s categories.
In the men’s division, Vishvanath Suresh (50 kg) delivered a flawless 5-0 win against Bekzat Ergeshov (KGZ), while Sachin (60 kg) impressed with a 4-1 victory over Mongolia’s Buyandalai Bayarkhuu. Deepak (70 kg) edged past Uzbekistan’s Khavasbek Asadullaev in a closely contested 3-2 bout, and Aditya Pratap Singh (65 kg) secured a dominant 5-0 win over Mouda Alhawsaw (KSA).
The only setback for India came in the 55 kg category, where Jadumani Singh narrowly lost 2-3 to Japan’s top seed Rui Yamaguchi after a hard-fought contest.
With six wins from seven bouts, the Indian contingent has made a strong statement early in the tournament and will look to carry the momentum forward.
