UFC president Dana White has reacted to the new deal between former UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and PFL.
Dana was speaking after UFC Vegas 73 and noted that the deal does not make any sense to him.
“Based on what I know about the deal, which is not much, it makes no sense to me. You're going to pay a guy not to fight for a year and it's already been like 18 months. It is not what we do here. The day we released him, I knew exactly what was going to happen. Francis wants to take zero risks. He does not want to take any chances. Obviously did not want to take any chance with Jon Jones and obviously, after we saw what happened with Ciryl Gane, I don’t blame him. I think the outcome would’ve been same. I know most of you think so and so does Francis,” Dana White said.

He went on to note that the deal that PFL made with Francis Ngannou makes no sense to him. He pointed out that Boxing is gimmicky and that it is not what UFC does at this time.
“PFL is going to pay this guy to train for a boxing match that might not even happen or they might not be even involved in. How does that make any sense? It does not make any sense to me. Anthony Joshua called it a gimmick fight this week. When asked about that fight, he said that he wants to fight the best guys in the world.
That is one of the biggest problems with boxing now. It’s just all about these gimmicky fights and that’s not what I do here. I put on fights with the best fighters in the world. Fights that people want to see. Francis could have done a deal here,” White added.
