Dricus Du Plessis says that the entire continent of Africa is behind him.

Israel Adesanya recently defeated Alex Pereira, ending their feud and helping him win back the UFC middleweight championship.

Israel Adesanya made it obvious at his post-fight news conference that he is not interested in a trilogy fight with Alex Pereira. Pereira must climb back up the rankings if he wants another chance at the title, according to Adesanya, who claimed that he handed Pereira a shortcut route to it.

But, the middleweight king is now having trouble selecting a challenger for his upcoming fight, particularly if Pereira moves to the 205-pound weight class as some have speculated.

With a built-in plot that might help promote the bout, Dricus du Plessis, the current sixth-ranked challenger, appears to be the greatest matchup for Adesanya.

It was perceived as a slight towards "The Last Stylebender," who also has African ancestry when South African fighter Du Plessis recently stated his desire to hold the UFC's first actual African belt.

Israel Adesanya was incensed by Du Plessis' remark, but he refrained from calling him out by name, claiming that if they ever got into a fight, he would "drag his carcass across South Africa."

And now, the South African has responded.

"So you won’t say my name, that’s smart you better not. I don’t need your airtime at all, I have my whole continent of AFRICA behind me. Go enjoy your very spectacular victory at home in New Zealand. We are Africa we fear nothing. #stillknocks #greenandgold???????? #proudlyafrican" he wrote on Twitter last day.
