The dancing rose character played by Shabeer Kallarakkal was an instant hit among the fans and his style inside the boxing ring is something that people talked about.
Inspired by real-life characters
Shabeer Kallarakkal's portrayal of "Dancing" Rose was modelled after British boxer Naseem Hamed, who was renowned for his distinctive flowing motions that were almost dance-like.
In fact, other characters in the film also had inspirations.
The great American boxer Muhammad Ali served as the inspiration for Arya's character Kabilan, and a still from the movie that the producers just published looked a lot like Muhammad Ali's pose. The character of Vembuli (John Kokken) was based on Mike Tyson.
George Foreman, who is regarded as one of the oldest heavyweight champions in the annals of international boxing, served as the inspiration for Santhosh Pratap's character Raman. The actor Gajapathi's "Beedi" Rayappan was modelled after the fisherman-fighter Kitheri Muthu, who is renowned for having beaten Nat Terry, a well-known Anglo-Indian boxer.
