Who is Ayesha Mukherjee? The story of the kickboxer you need to know

Ayesha Mukherjee is a former professional kickboxer and mixed martial artist. She is best known for her marriage to former cricketer and current Indian politician, Shikhar Dhawan.

Childhood and training in Martial arts

Mukherjee was born in Kolkata, India, and grew up in Australia. She began training in martial arts at a young age and eventually became a professional kickboxer and mixed martial artist. She competed in various tournaments and events, including international ones.

In addition to her career as a martial artist, Mukherjee also worked as a personal trainer and fitness instructor. She was passionate about health and wellness and enjoyed helping others achieve their fitness goals.

Shikhar Dhawan first met Ayesha on Facebook. Harbhajan Singh, a well-known Indian cricketer, introduced Ayesha to the left-handed Indian opener.

Ayesha had met Harbhajan Sign via her passion for cricket and sports. Shikhar and Ayesha shared passions, whether it was sports or tattoos, which drew them together.

In 2009, both got engaged despite Ayesha being 12 years older than Shikhar. Shikhar has confessed that convincing his parents, particularly his father, Mahendra Pal Dhawan, about the marriage was difficult.

Shikhar was eventually able to persuade his father with the help of his mother, Sunaina Dhawan. However, the marriage had to be postponed for a while since Shikhar chose to prioritise his aim of becoming India's top opener. Shikhar had agreed with Ayesha on the feeling, giving Shikhar time to develop a comfortable bond with her girls.

The couple eventually married on October 30, 2012. They married in a traditional Sikh ceremony. However, many cricketers and celebrities attended their wedding celebration.

Shikhar's career took off after 2013, when he scored five hundreds in 28 games. He also received the 'Man of the Tournament' award at the end of the 2013 champions trophy. In 2014, the couple welcomed a son. Zoravar was the name of the child.

Separation from Shikhar Dhawan

Ayesha declared her divorce from Indian Opener Shikhar Dhawan in 2021 via a lengthy Instagram post. After 8 years of marriage, the couple divorced. They had a son named Zoravar, who was seven years old.

Apart from Shikhar and Ayesha's Instagram posts, there has not been much information about the divorce. The pair has agreed to keep their reasons for the situation confidential.
