Aung La N Sang is interested in a rematch with Reinier De Ridder. The Burmese Python talked about the same in his recent interview with SCMP MMA.

The ongoing rivalry between Aung La N Sang and Reinier De Ridder is undoubtedly one of the most captivating narratives in ONE Championship. Prior to De Ridder's arrival, Aung La held the ONE Middleweight and ONE Light Heavyweight titles, cementing his status as a two-division champion in the organization.

However, the tides shifted when  De Ridder entered the scene. After impressing in his initial ONE Championship appearances, he was granted a shot at Aung La's Middleweight title at ONE Inside the Matrix. In a surprising turn of events, De Ridder submitted the reigning champion in under four minutes, snatching the gold away from Aung La.

But De Ridder's aspirations didn't stop there. When Aung La was set to have a trilogy bout with Vitaly Bigdash at ONE on TNT 4, with the ONE Light Heavyweight title on the line, Bigdash was forced to withdraw due to a positive COVID test. Seizing the opportunity, De Ridder stepped in as a short-notice replacement.

Although Aung La managed to take the fight the distance this time, he couldn't withstand De Ridder's superior grappling skills. De Ridder dominated on the ground, and the judges awarded him a comfortable decision victory. As a result, De Ridder became a two-division champion in the ONE Championship.

“Of course, I mean that why else would I stick around if I don't have plans to get my belt back. Why else would I stick around. Money doesn't mean much to me. You need money but then like money, it isn't everything it's like if I'm not if I'm not trying to be the best in my division,” Aung La said when asked about fighting Reinier De Ridder again.

He went on to add that De Ridder is a one trick pony. Aung La referred to how Anatoly Malykhin defeated De Ridder.

“I really don't think it was surprising at all. You think about it right what does RDR is a is a one-trick pony. He takes a person down and he he grapples them right grounds and pounds them right what other way does he win? He doesn't out strike people you know.” Aung La added.

He went on to add that if he is to fight De Ridder again, he will follow the game plan that Malykhin had followed.

“Technically like speaking that's a very similar game plan that I would have to use. I don't see his [Reinier De Ridder’s] striking drastically improve in in the next you know six months or so if I were to find him so that that would be that that would be the play,” Aung La added.
