Former ONE Championship double champion Aung La N Sang is expecting big things from new signing Roberto Soldic.
The Croatian MMA star signed with ONE Championship recently after a successful run in KSW. He was a two-division champion in KSW and the 27-year-old seems set to make a statement in ONE Championship as well.
Aung La opened up about the prospect of Soldic fighting in the promotion in a recent interview with ONE Championship and said that Soldic has been competing at the highest level.
“He already has a lot of accolades to his name. He’s not a new talent. He’s been around the block. And he’s been competing at a high level. As a mixed martial artist, you know for a fact that he has some skills. If you just look at the credentials and the guys he’s [been in there with]. So, of course, I know he’s good. It’s not like, ‘Oh, all of a sudden, this guy’s a guy to watch out for.’ He’s going to be a great addition to ONE Championship,” Aung La noted.

The Burmese Python also revealed that he trained with Soldic once when the Croatian visited Sanford MMA in Florida.
“I think that was 2020 or a little earlier. He came to Sanford and we trained a little bit. He just trained for a week or two there. He had his own guys so the amount of training that I did with him was more of a couple of sparring sessions and a couple of kickboxing sessions. He has a very good skill set, a very good left hand, a lot of power, and a very good eye,” Aung La added.

Speaking further, Aung La noted that winning two titles in ONE Championship is going to be tough and also proposed a potential fight for Soldic.
“He’s already got a lot of fans in Europe, and I know he’s KSW two-division champion. So for sure, he will do well. [Winning titles in two divisions] is a lot harder than it looks. It’s going to be a hell of a fight if he and Kadestam fight. It’s going to be a great fight, for sure,” Aung La added.
