Indian Boxers Shine with Record Haul at Asian Youth Games

India’s youth boxers delivered a historic performance at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain, capturing four gold medals, two silvers, and one bronze — the highest medal tally by any discipline in the Indian contingent and the nation’s best-ever showing in youth boxing at continental games.

With this remarkable performance, India topped the girls’ boxing standings, reaffirming the country’s growing dominance in youth boxing across Asia. The Indian girls’ team finished first overall with four golds and one silver.

The golden run began with Khushi Chand (46kg) defeating China’s Luo Jinxiu 4–1 in a display of precision and control. Ahaana Sharma (50kg) followed with a first-round referee-stopped-contest win over Ma Jong Hyang of Korea. Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari (54kg) added another gold with a 5–0 decision against Uzbekistan’s Muhammadova Kumriniso, while Anshika (+80kg) secured India’s fourth gold. Harnoor Kaur (66kg) earned silver after a hard-fought final bout.

In the boys’ events, Lanchenba Singh Moibungkhongbam (50kg) took silver after a close contest with Kazakhstan’s Nurmakhan Zhumagali, while Anant Deshmukh (66kg) claimed bronze to cap India’s impressive campaign.

The seven-medal haul underscores the strength of India’s youth boxing program and the preparation under head coaches Vinod Kumar (boys) and Jitender Raj Singh (girls) at NS NIS Patiala.

This landmark achievement marks a major milestone for Indian boxing, showcasing a new generation of athletes ready to shine on the global stage.
