Anshul Jubli makes history, wins at Road to UFC Semi-Finals and remains unbeaten

The Road to UFC Semi-finals featuring Indian MMA star Anshul Jubli unfolded today in Abu Dhabi. Anshul, who has been undefeated throughout his amateur and professional MMA career, went up against a veteran in Kyung Pyo Kim and secured a decision victory.

Anshul has become the first-ever Indian-born fighter to secure a win inside the UFC Octagon.

With the win, the Indian has earned himself a spot in the finals of Road to UFC and is just one win away from getting a UFC contract.

Anshul had the upper hand from the start of the fight itself and was showcasing some crisp boxing skills throughout the fight. Kim tried to land a few takedowns spread across the three rounds only to see Anshul successfully get back up.

The Indian was controlling the cage with his forward movement and landed a plethora of body shots as well. After the three rounds, the judges scored the fight in favour of Anshul via a decision.

In the quarter-finals, Anshul had got a walkover after his opponent Sho Patrick Usami had to withdraw due to weight management issues. Anshul progressed into the semi-finals as a result and had successfully made weight despite his opponent pulling out.

Anshul will now fight Jeka Saragih in the finals of Road to UFC for a place on the UFC Roster.

Confident Anshul gets the job done

Ahead of the semi-final fight, Anshul had his fight camp at SOMA Fight Club and Crosstrain Fight Club and had a smooth weight cut as well. The Indian, during his pre-fight interview with LockerRoom India, noted that he was going to prove to the whole world that India is a land of warriors.

Anshul resonated with the same in his post-fight interview as well and noted that India has arrived in the UFC. He also reminded everyone that it has been only four years since he started training and that he is going to take over the MMA world.
