Allycia Hellen Rodrigues, the ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion, was prepared and eager to make a comeback in December, but her World Title unification fight versus interim champion Janet Todd was cancelled at the eleventh hour.

The fight was postponed because Todd had COVID-19, but the two strikers will now face off on March 24 in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video.

Although Rodrigues acknowledges that she was frustrated by the setback at the time, she has since been able to take a step back and view the situation less emotionally.

Since winning the World Title from Stamp Fairtex in August 2020, Rodrigues has not engaged in any competitions.

The 24-year-old then took a protracted break after the birth of her first kid, and even though she felt ready to return in December, she now appreciates the extra time.

In fact, the Phuket Fight Club representative claims that after a few more months in the gym, she feels stronger physically and more determined intellectually.

Due to Allycia Hellen Rodrigues' prolonged hiatus from competition following her pregnancy and delivery, Janet Todd stepped up to the plate and successfully defended her ONE Interim Atomweight Muay Thai World Title.

In spite of the fact that Rodrigues already had confidence in her ability to defeat the American star at ONE on Prime Video 5 in December, she's spent the last few months concentrating on other aspects of her toolkit.

“I feel very comfortable with my elbowing and kicking game because it’s something I can do really well. But I’ve also been working a lot on my boxing. This postponement of the fight helped me to have more time to improve my boxing even more. I’ve been training every day since the postponement of the fight,” she told in an interview with ONE Championship.

She added further that she is planning to get a knockout win over Janet Todd when she fights her foe.

“I’m going to knock her out. I believe we’ll exchange some blows in the first and second rounds, but the intention is to press from the beginning in search of the knockout,” she added.
