Indian MMA athlete Vridhi Kumari gave a great republic day gift for the nation on Wednesday as she secured the third win for India at the IMMAF World Championship 2021. Vridhi went up against Nurzhamal Sadykova of Kazakhstan in the Women’s Atomweight Quarter-Finals on Wednesday morning and took home a decision win after three rounds.

Vridhi had a good amount of success on the clinch and fended off a lethal submission attempt from her Kazakh opponent successfully in the first round. The Indian then went on to have top control time in the second round and worked well with her clinch control in the third round as well to edge out Sadykova on the scorecard.

With the win, she has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Atomweight division and will be locking horns with Nadine Abbott Bissett of Ireland in the bracket.

Last day, Shabarish had secured the first win for Team India at the IMMAF World Championship and this was followed by a first-round KO win by Ramston Rodrigues. Both Shabarish and Ramston will be in action at the event on Day 3 in their respective quarter-final matchups.
