Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier believes that Valentina Shevchenko will be a double champion in 2022.

During the recent episode of the DC and RC Podcast, Cormier noted that Amanda Nunes might not recapture the Bantamweight title from Julianna Pena and added that Shevchenko might be the one to dethrone Pena.

“Not only do I not believe that Amanda is going to win that belt back, I believe that Valentina is going to win that belt and become the double champion in 2022,” Cormier noted.

Shevchenko has been on a dominant run in the UFC Flyweight division where she is currently reigning as the champion. ‘The Bullet’ has managed to outclass almost all of the top-ranked contenders in the division.

Pena, on the other hand, produced a huge upset when she stopped Amanda Nunes to capture the Bantamweight title at UFC 269. Interestingly, Pena and Shevchenko fought each other back in 2017 with Shevchenko picking up the win via second-round submission.

After winning the title, Pena had expressed her interest in a rematch with Shevchenko as well which makes matters more interesting. At the same time, Miesha Tate will be moving to Flyweight and making her divisional debut against Lauren Murphy.
